new job!

I’ve always been one to work a collection of part-time jobs, and this is no exception. I’m still teaching at the college, and still doing rehab Pilates, but an opportunity came across that seemed appropriate for where I want to be, long-term.

I love teaching face-to-face, in-person classes where I can interact with students. I’m trying out some online teaching. I’m now part of a big online university–the only one accredited–and have just finished their long (paid!) training program… while also working my regular job. But this new work is designed to work around other aspects of life, be it a main job or taking care of kids.

I’m not actually an online professor (those are the full-time roles), but I’m evaluating their projects. In this online environment, the students are partially assessed through papers and multimedia projects which pull together many aspects of their learning.

This is something I’ll be doing a few hours a week, and I like the people so far. If I like the environment well enough, it may be a wonderful location-independent opportunity. 🙂
